Report on Costa Rica Construction and Development
Trade Mission of 2009

The Costa Rica Construction and Development Trade Mission of 2009 was organized and led by Steve Toner, Principal of Coastal Strategies, Inc. On site support was provided by his associate Marlene Cambronero. A delegation of 15 contractors and developers participated in the aggressive four day itinerary, and a couple days of unique Costa Rica entertainment including:

• A Commercial Briefing, including the new opportunities created by CAFTA, was presented at the US Embassy by the US Department of Commerce in Pavas, near San Jose.

• A Reception for 65 was executed at the Official Residence of the Acting Ambassador to meet industry leaders and government officials in Escazu, near San Jose.

• A private chartered flight for an aerial tour of the new San Jose - Caldera Highway linking the capital city of San Jose to the Pacific Coast opening new opportunities for construction and development, landed in Quepos.

• Private transportation along the Pacific Coast; we introduced delegates to the owners and developers of new and proposed developments; terminated in Jaco.

• The conclusion of the trade mission was with a dinner meeting at Los Suenos Resort and Marina, Costa Rica’s premier resort community.

• Numerous opportunities are currently under due diligence as a result of the mission.

• Post Trade Mission entertainment included chartered deep sea fishing, zip lining, touring, and a world champion surfing event in Jaco.
